Bosnjak with representatives of national council of Croatian national minority

The newly appointed Chair of the Serbian part of the Serbia – Croatia Intergovernmental Mixed Committee and State Secretary at the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Ivan Bosnjak has met the representatives of the National Council of the Croatian National Minority in Subotica today. They discussed the position of this national minority in Serbia and the improvement of the legal and institutional framework for exercising their rights.

Representatives of the National Council of the Croatian National Minority expressed their satisfaction with the solution to the issue of elementary school textbooks, however they also pointed out that there is still work to be done to find a solution to the issue of secondary school and preschool textbooks. State Secretary has pointed out that by the end of the year, two legal solutions will be amended to improve the rights and position of national minority representatives and the work of national councils, as well. Bosnjak announced that the Intergovernmental Mixed Committee meeting would be held by the end of the year.

The meeting organized on the initiative of Bosnjak, Co-chair of the Serbia – Croatia Intergovernmental Mixed Committee and State Secretary, was attended by the Consul General of Croatia in Subotica, Gordan Bakota, representatives of the local self-government and heads of three administrative districts, as well as the National Coordinator for Open Issues with the Republic of Croatia, Nemanja Stevanovic.
