Kasalović: Fight against grey economy is the common fight of the state, economy and citizens

State Secretary, Zoran Kasalović said today that the fight against gray economy is the fight of all – state, businessmen and citizens, and that the inspections are at the forefront. At the Third National Conference of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the economy “A Way Out of the Gray Economy” he said that the reform of the inspection service system has yielded great results in the fight against the gray economy. “The system has been set up so that inspections are now focused on controlling businessmen who are not willing to play by rules and are seeking a way to evade law and obligations towards the state and workers. A good economy today has an advisor and a friend in inspectors,” Kasalović said. Kasalović added that within the continuation of the fight against the gray economy and the reform of the inspection supervision, it is planned to strengthen their material and personnel capacities. “Inspectors ensure that laws apply to everyone equally, that everyone has the same obligation to pay taxes, to register workers, to place safe products on the market, to protect the environment. They ensure that all businessmen operate on predictable and fair terms; however they are understaffed and lack adequate equipment. Therefore, we are already looking at the needs of all inspections, and this year we will come out with a plan to improve their capacities to adequately respond to all the requirements we are asking for,” said State Secretary.
