MDULS AWARDED RSD 578 MILLION TO MUNICIPALITIES AND CITIES IN SERBIA

The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has solemnly signed contracts with 43 mayors and presidents of municipalities today at the premises of the Palace of Serbia, on the allocation of RSD 578 million for the implementation of various local projects throughout Serbia.

A total of RSD 490 million were allocated from the Budget Fund of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government for the implementation of more than 40 of the most significant, mostly infrastructural projects in the local area, of which most of the money was intended for works on kindergartens, schools, cultural, sports and public administration facilities, but also for works on utilities infrastructure and public areas, while RSD 88 million shall be invested in opening of One-Stop-Shops in 13 municipalities and cities.

“We signed these contracts today, exactly one day before the 24th anniversary of the NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. We wanted to show that, despite all the hardships and troubles we have faced in 1999, as well as in later years, Serbia has not yielded nor have its citizens, and that we are fighting and moving forward. Thanks to the enthusiasm and energy of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, Serbia has managed to rise and stand on its own two feet. And the most important thing is that Serbia is the only country in Europe which, at the moment, conducts its domestic and foreign policy wholly independently,” minister Martinović has said on this occasion. He added that with the today’s symbolic signing of the contracts, the Ministry wanted to show that despite all the problems and adversities, Serbia had managed to develop economically and become a stable country.

Martinović has also stated that all citizens were taken into account during the allocation of funds, and that municipalities and cities from all parts and regions of Serbia were included.

With reference to the aforementioned, the local self-governments have applied for funds from the Budget Fund with around 200 different projects, while 27 LSUs and city municipalities applied for OSS this year.

In congratulating the today’s signatories, minister Martinović has expressed his regret that the Ministry could not help everyone, despite the fact that all projects were equally important and of high quality.

In the end, minister Martinović had expressed his hope that the allocated funds will be spent as intended, and that all projects will be implemented as soon as possible.
