RUŽIĆ: NORWAY’S STRONG SUPPORT TO DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENTS

The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Branko Ružić, pointed out today that Norway’s support in the amount of 4.27 million EUR, available to towns and municipalities through the project “Norway for you”, is very important for the development of local self-governments in Serbia.

“The Kingdom of Norway is one of the donators on different projects, and this project is oriented towards needs on the local level, such as the increase of employment rate, social cohesion or higher security of electronic equipment”, said Ružić in Aleksinac.

He called on local self-governments to use every kind of aid they are offered, as this would contribute to the quality of life of the citizens.

Ružić thanked the Kingdom of Norway on its support for the Government’s efforts to create a better, more efficient and more modern administration, which is the service of citizens.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government was particularly thankful to the Ambassador personally and to the Kingdom of Norway, for the support they ensured in the reinforcement of inspection, administrative and administrative judicial oversight and control over inspection.

“We have started the reform of inspections because the corporate sector demanded it, and we started to write the first law together, and supplemented it with new oversight mechanisms last year”, noted Ružić.

He emphasized that the objective to change the role of inspectors from penal to advisory, with a coordination of multiple inspections, to prevent oversights from overlapping.

The objective of the project which is implemented with the Kingdom of Norway, he added, was capacity enhancement of the Administrative Inspectorate within the Ministry.

“Moreover, we are getting support for making the practice uniform, facilitating the implementation of the new law and monitoring recommendations which inspectorates and businessmen are noting at meetings of the Coordination Committee”, said Ružić.

He announced that an analysis of inspections, their number, resources they use in their work and what the inspections should look like, would be soon presented.
