THE NEW SKIP CENTER IN NIŠ WILL BE DESIGNED AFTER THE SKIP CENTER IN BELGRADE

The representatives of the National Information Society Agency of the Government of the Republic of Korea (NIA) and the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government have recently paid a working visit to the City of Niš, where they considered additional proposals and measures related to the reconstruction of the facility intended for the establishment of a second Serbian-Korean Information Access (SKIP) Center in Serbia.

On that occasion, they have also discussed the reconstruction of the SKIP Center in Belgrade, which was opened less than five years ago, while the representatives of NIA have expressed their satisfaction with its work and management, pointing out that the Belgrade SKIP Center will serve as a model for the creation of the same center in Niš.

“I am pleased that I have the opportunity to see in person everything that I had previously heard about the results of work of the SKIP Center managed by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government. We will try to ensure that the quality of the design of the SKIP Center in Niš does not deviate from the SKIP Center in Belgrade, which has gained a great reputation within the world network of Information Access Centers,” Unjong Ji, the Executive Director of the ICT Global Cooperation Sector of the Korean National Information Society Agency, has said.

The NIA representatives have also met with the representatives of the city administration of Niš, and visited the location of the new SKIP Center, which will be another multifunctional facility intended for strengthening the capacities of our citizens in the field of digitization.

Within the Global ICT Leadership Forum held in November 2021 in Seoul, the Memorandum of Understanding and Joint Cooperation in ICT was signed between the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of the Republic of Serbia and NIA, which established the legal basis for the extension of cooperation, updating of the IT equipment of the Skip Center in Belgrade, and the opening of another SKIP Center in the City of Niš. The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of the Republic of Serbia and the City of Niš have signed a Cooperation Agreement in December 2021, which defines their mutual relations, rights and obligations in regards to the establishment and functioning of the SKIP Center in Niš.

The solemn opening of the SKIP Center in Niš is planned for the end of this year.
