LADY MINISTER AND NEW HEAD OF THE OSCE MISSION TO SERBIA DISCUSSED NEW JOINT PROJECTS

Lady Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Marija Obradović and Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Jan Braathu talked today about the cooperation between MPALSG and the OSCE in the previous period, and the possibilities for its improvement.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the current cooperation on existing programs and discussed areas in which cooperation can be expanded.

One of the areas in which new cooperation could be achieved is gender equality, bearing in mind that in Serbia after the last elections 20 towns and municipalities are led by women, that women are at the head of 29 city and municipal assemblies, while 50 percent of women, that is 73 of them, lead city and municipal administrations.

The MPALSG Lady Minister and the Head of the OSCE Mission agreed that it would be useful and important to consider opportunities for networking of women leaders at the local level, which would encourage them to cooperate with each other, but also empower them to fight challenges in their communities, and shall make the results of their work more visible.

The meeting also discussed the election process, single electoral roll, as well as the recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, which further improve the country’s electoral process.
