Bošnjak: Romania-Serbia intergovernmental commission meets again after seven-year standstill

State Secretary Ivan Bošnjak, who is also a co-chair of the Romania-Serbia Intergovernmental Commission, held in Zrenjanin a preparatory meeting dedicated to a session of that body which will be held. “After seven years of standstill, a meeting of the Commission of the two countries, formed in the middle of the last decade, will be held until the end of the year“, he said.  Bošnjak: Romania-Serbia Intergovernmental Commission meets again after seven-year standstill. “Friendship between the two countries and the two peoples is traditional and stable, but there is always the need to address issues regarding the positions of both Serbs in Romania and Romanians in Serbia”, said Mr. Bošnjak, emphasizing that this includes the issues of culture, education, cherishing national identity and religious issues. Mr. Ivan Bošnjak closed the meeting with a message that such working meetings should be held more often because the existing backlog of problems can be addressed only through active participation in dialogue. The meeting was attended by representatives of Serbs in Romania, Head of the Srednjobanatski District Snežana Vučurović, representatives of the Provincial Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office for Human and Minority Rights, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, as well as numerous representatives of the media.
