PROJECT TITLE: Reinforcing Good Governance and Social Inclusion on the Local Level in Serbia

PROJECT AIM: The aim of the project is to ensure support to local self-governments by reinforcing their capacities for development, adoption and implementation of the principle of good governance (efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, accountability, rule of law, participation, equality and non-discrimination) in everyday practice. Project activities are based on activities of general support aimed at all local self-governments, which will include awareness raising and capacity building through regional trainings, online trainings, workshops, creating a knowledge database and information point on good governance, as well as organizing an open competition for the selection of best example of good practice in the application of the principle of good governance. Other than that, direct support will be provided for 42 local self-governments through municipal support packages in areas relating to principles of good governance, such as: Improvement of efficiency and effectiveness of the activities of the local self-government and standardisation of local administrative procedures; Strengthen the accountability and rule of law, particularly through the support to the development and implementation of local anti-corruption action plans; Implementation of the principle of participatory decision making on the local level, particularly with respect to drawing up the budget and gender budgeting.
