Serbia is a multinational and multicultural country inhabited, in addition to the majority Serbian population, by persons belonging a number of national minorities and different religious and language groups which differ in their numbers, spatial distribution, ethnic, religious, linguistic, cultural and educational characteristics, customs and other traits. The social and political system of the Republic of Serbia is structured according to the principle of full protection of national minorities, with many new and original solutions which are not found in other countries.

Digitilisation of civil records

 

To modernise the administration, ensure better communication between institutions and enable more efficient provision of services to citizens, civil records are currently being digitalised. More than 98% of all data relating to citizens in the past 100 years have been converted to an electronic form. As a result, citizens can now obtain their excerpt from the Register of Births from any municipality or city, regardless of the place of their birth.

All national inspectorates and 78% of the interviewed local inspectorates believe that application of the Law on Inspection Supervision has contributed to improved inspection work. Businesses have also praised the reform, with just 13% of them stating that inspectorates make their operations more difficult.
