„I want the last Thursday of the month, when we are questioned by citizens in the National Assembly using the voice of MPs, to be the most watched program in Serbia, “said Marija Obradovic, who answered questions yesterday, for the first time since taking office, the Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government, the questions from MPs.
She pointed out that the Institute of Parliamentary Questions on the Last Thursday of the Month, from 4 pm to 7 pm, is a very important control mechanism of the Parliament over the work of the Government of Serbia, and said that she would like the citizens to know that the questions that MPs ask members of the Government are the result of their communication with MPs, because the National Assembly is asked what the citizens of Serbia would like to ask.
Answering the questions, Minister Obradović stated that on September 1st, 2020, the Central Population Register was established, i.e. a central, very reliable database, which contains 13 basic records in the country, including data on citizens.
„The Central Population Register should serve the institutions in Serbia so that citizens do not go from counter to counter, but that institutions request data from the Register, which will save us time and money, and most importantly enable us to work faster, more conveniently and in more modern way, which is the main message of the e-Government”, pointed out Obradović.
She said that the state must be a more efficient service to citizens and that the entire e-Government system must teach us to become e-citizens. The Minister invited the citizens to be a partner of the state on that road, to check their data on the e-Government Portal, and to request parameters at the counters of post offices and tax administrations in local self-governments, on how to connect and check the records from the Register.
Speaking about another Project of the Ministry, which, like the previous one, has the strong support of the Prime Minister’s Office, Minister Obradović presented the National Academy of Public Administration, for which she pointed out that the institution was created with the aim of improving the capacities and competencies of civil servants and officials at all levels of government in the country.
„It is an institution where all employees in public administration, including office holders, can get acquainted with the obligations of the positions for which they were elected. After these elections in Serbia, we have 60 new Mayors and Presidents of Municipalities, who have not met with that kind of responsibility so far. That is why the National Academy of Public Administration has designed a Training Program for New Local Leaders, in order to help them in their new jobs and to make the citizens who elected them more satisfied, “said Minister of the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government.
