Immunization is the only way to fight Covid in the 21st century because difficult months await us, we don’t know if we are in the middle or at the end of the fight against the virus and that is why we must not give up, that is why we need more registered and vaccinated citizens,” Minister Obradović said today, during a visit to one of the vaccination checkpoints in Kruševac.
She called for the citizens to take action in the form of solidarity, mutual support, and humanity, and for each of the vaccinated citizens to help another Serbian person apply for vaccination because that is the only way for us to have a larger number of people who received the vaccine. Obradović said that this is not the time to discuss whether the vaccine is good or not and whether we should or should not be vaccinated, but to help those who want and can be vaccinated.
Obradović pointed out that it is important for as many people older than 60 as possible to be vaccinated, and praised the example of the city of Kruševac, where almost 50 percent of the population in this category was vaccinated, but also called on other cities and municipalities to follow this example.
“Kruševac is one of the nine cities in Serbia where people older than 60 can be vaccinated without a scheduled appointment at checkpoints which were established for this particular purpose. I invite and appeal for people to apply via the eGovernment Portal or the contact phone, and if only one person hears this, we have done a great job.” Kruševac is among the best cities in Serbia when it comes to the organization of immunization and the number of vaccinated citizens, and it can be an example to others of how it should be done,” said Minister Obradović.
She expressed her gratitude to her medical staff, but also to the administration that helps the whole vaccination process in the country, and pointed out that they are the heroes of this fight, and that it will only be possible to fully understand the scope of their work and be proud of the teamwork that made us be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
The mayor of Kruševac, Jasmina Parulović, stated after visiting the Sports Hall in this city that Kruševac has been actively involved in the vaccination of the population since the first day, and that the vaccination process, both in the city and in the villages, is going very well. She assessed that good coordination with medical staff, health centers, the call center in the city, Crisis Staff, and the entire Government, especially the relevant ministry, led to a large number of interested and vaccinated citizens in Kruševac.
Dr. Marina Kostić, the director of the Health Center in Kruševac, pointed out that over 37 thousand people have been vaccinated in Kruševac so far, which is an excellent result. She expressed special satisfaction with the response of citizens older than 60 in rural areas, where vaccination is being carried out in 13 clinics. From next week, 12 more outpatient units will start operating in the villages, and Kruševac also has two mobile teams that vaccinate the immobile and people with disabilities every day.
After the Sports Hall in Kruševac, Minister Obradović visited the outpatient clinic of the Health Center in the village of Čitluk, where she talked to the locals who came to be vaccinated. The delegation of the Ministry also included State Secretary Maja Mačužić Puzić.
To date, over 1.4 million citizens in Serbia have registered for vaccination via the eGovernment Portal, over 1.2 million have been vaccinated, and over 800,000 citizens have been revaccinated.
