The municipalities of Rača and Bajina Bašta, together with the cities of Belgrade, Loznica, Kikinda, and Niš will be allocated almost 110 thousand Swiss francs from the Fund for Inter-Municipal Cooperation for the implementation of various projects.
The decision on the selection of project proposals, which will be financed from this fund within the project “Local Self-Government for the 21st Century”, was made in accordance with the Draft Decision of the Commission for selection of projects to be financed within the Public Call for Proposals and improving inter-municipal cooperation.
The municipality of Rača received funds for the establishment of a joint attorney’s office in the municipalities of Rača, Lapovo and Batočina, while the municipality of Bajina Bašta received money for the implementation of the project “Our Tara”. Funds have been approved to the City of Belgrade for the improvement of inter-municipal cooperation for strengthening the capacity of the Mobility and Communication Support Service, and Loznica for risk assessment and mapping in the Drina River Basin. The Fund also allocated money for the project of establishing inter-municipal cooperation in the field of communal activities between the City of Kikinda and the Municipality of Novi Bečej, while Niš received funds for the improvement of zoo hygiene in the Nišava district.
The project “Local Self-Government for the 21st Century” is being implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with the Republic Secretariat for Public Policies and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM), with the support of the Government of the Swiss Confederation. The purpose of the project is system reform in order to strengthen local governments in accordance with the Public Administration Reform Strategy. The completion of the project is planned for the period from June 2020 to February 2024.
