“The task of every state is to take care of its citizens. Today, we are trying to convince the citizens of Serbia to become eCitizens. This is a novelty for our country, maybe not for Belgrade, but citizens in the most remote places where there is no internet watch this only on television and that must change because digitalization is something we cannot avoid, “The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Marija Obradović, pointed out today in the municipality of Stari grad, where a counter for registration of citizens on the eGovernment Portal was opened.
She said that this is just a step further in order for everyone in Serbia to become eCitizens, citizens who communicate electronically with the state, which will save time and money and speed up communication between citizens, the economy, and the state.
“This is the future. Serbia is becoming a modern state, a state tailored to all of us, and we, modern citizens. The state has provided this, and it is up to the citizens to become eCitizens, which only takes a few minutes. “Just as we managed to apply for vaccination or financial assistance from the state through the eGovernment Portal, so this will become our everyday life,” said Obradović.
She invited citizens to ask for their parameters at the counters of local self-governments and the post offices, and with an ID card and mobile phone, become eCitizens, after which all communication with the state takes place electronically.
Following the examples of Kragujevac and Subotica, Belgrade today received a specialized counter for registration of citizens on the eGovernment Portal in the city municipality of Stari grad. All Belgraders will be able to get support in creating accounts and thus become eCitizens who use electronic services, counting over a million existing users so far.
By creating an account, citizens are enabled to use the services of several government portals, for which it is necessary to obtain a username and password from the official to access the eGovernment Portal and install the application on a mobile phone with an ID card at the city administration counter.
The eCitizen service is part of a project to improve the electronic delivery of documents, implemented by the Office for Information Technology and Electronic Administration and NALED, with the support of the EBRD.
In addition to Minister Obradović, Mihailo Jovanović, Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment, Violeta Jovanović, Executive Director of NALED and Radoslav Marjanović, President of the city municipality Stari Grad also spoke about the eCitizen service at the event.
