“Modernization of public administration is one of the primary goals of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and one of the most important priorities of the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, as the bearer of reform processes in our public administration,” said Minister Marija Obradović, at a hybrid conference entitled “Modernized Public Administration at the Service of Citizens and Society. ”
Minister Obradović pointed out that, despite the circumstances caused by the Covid-19 virus pandemic and the huge battle that the Government of the Republic of Serbia successfully waged, the modernization of the state administration has not been abandoned.
“The public administration, which we strive for, puts the satisfaction of the needs of citizens and the economy at the center of its activities, by providing efficient and increasingly digital public services. “One of the most important parts of public administration is the local self-government, which is the closest to the citizens and the first place to turn to in solving everyday problems, but also in exercising a large number of rights and obligations,” Obradović emphasized.
She especially emphasized the importance of permanent and modern training for state administration staff as one of the priorities of MDULS. In order to improve the quality of life of all citizens in local communities and provide support to women at the head of local governments, as well as other civil servants, today a new National Academy for Public Administration platform for eLearning and eTraining which will be available to them 24 hours a day was presented to members of the Network of Women Mayors and Presidents of Serbia.
The signatories of the “Charter of Women’s Solidarity” – 22 women who are at the head of cities and municipalities in Serbia, are the first to have the opportunity to use these modern digital tools for training. These eTrainings will help them successfully manage their local communities, from improved planning and more efficient delivery of public services, to better monitoring of achieved results.
The conference was organized by the National Academy of Public Administration within the project “Civil Service Training for the 21st Century in the Republic of Serbia”, funded by the Government of Sweden and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Serbia.
