Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Marija Obradović met today with representatives of the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC), with whom she discussed the progress of implementation of the project “Local Self-Government for the 21st Century”, with the Government of the Swiss Confederation as the donor.
Ms. Obradović exchanged opinions with the director of the SDC Office in Serbia Mr. Richard Kohli and Project Manager Mr. Petar Vasilev on the key ongoing activities, as well as on the activities scheduled to be implemented between July and September 2021.
Highlighting the continuity of reform efforts at the local level, Ms. Obradović said the years-long cooperation between the Ministry and the SDC in the field of local self-government system reform was an example of good practice. The parties underscored the continual support to cooperation between local self-governments in Serbia through the Inter-Municipal Cooperation Fund.
The project “Local Self-Government for the 21st Century” focuses on systemic reforms to strengthen local self-governments and includes activities in the fields of local self-government reform, decentralisation, improved quality of service provision to citizens and businesses, participation and greater involvement of citizens and improvement of the election system and the local planning system. The project implementation period is from June 2020 to February 2024.
