“It is my great honour to receive the award and the Charter today, which was awarded to MPALSG by the City Council of Veliko Gradište as a special form of recognition of contribution to development and affirmation of the municipality. For me and for employees in MPALSG it is a symbol of our successful cooperation with you, which we will continue in the future”, said Ms Marija Obradović, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government on the ceremony to commend the Day of the Municipality of Veliko Gradište held on Srebrno jezero.
On the ceremony held in the newly constructed sports hall on Srebrno jezero she noted that MPALSG partially supported construction of and equipment for this facility and expressed hope that our athletes would win medals on competitions in it and that it would become a place where new champions would be born.
“I am sure Veliko Gradište will continue taking large steps in development of its potentials, and that we who received your award today will continue to provide support to decentralisation of Serbia and its even regional development”, emphasized Ms Obradović.
She added that MPALSG demonstrated it wanted to help all local self-government units in Serbia to develop and grow and that as a parental home of all towns and municipalities, it is committed to supporting ideas and projects aimed at ensuring better living for Serbian citizens.
“As a female politician, I particularly support higher participation of my female colleagues in politics, on both national and local levels. I am particularly glad I met a dozen of very competent women today who work in the municipal administration and I would like you to know that you have my support, because only together and united we can show and prove that we are capable of being leaders”, said Ms Obradović.
She said that newly formed Network of Female Mayor and Presidents of Municipalities would contribute to that; there were currently 22 female mayors and presidents of municipalities in Serbia and this Network was not against male colleagues; instead, it should ensure that one more player in the team, namely women, becomes stronger.
“As of today, Veliko Gradište has its lobbyist in the Serbian Government. Serbia should hear about your resources, a large number of projects and activities and wonderful people who love their municipality, which is not necessarily the case everywhere. I see a lot of young people and I believe that the president of the municipality will recognise and develop your potential”, concluded the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.
On this occasion she again invited as many Serbian citizens as possible to vaccinate against COVID-19, because each day vaccination is delayed prolongs the epidemic.
Minister Obradović began her visit to Veliko Gradište today by a work meeting with the municipality management and by visiting the municipal administration and the location of the future administrative spot.
The municipality of Veliko Gradište celebrated today the Municipality Day by opening the newly built sports hall on Srebrno jezero and by awarding Charters and awards to organisations that contributed to the development and affirmation of Veliko Gradište.
