“In the past 500 days, the inspectors were in the field every day and informed us about the work performed for the previous day, exactly as scheduled. Such an organized system of work has never existed before, whereby the State now, for the first time ever, acted as an unified unit. In addition to our heroes – physicians and medical workers, the inspectors were at the front lines in the Republic of Serbia, and thanks to them the measures were respected and effective,” the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Marija Obradović, has said today at the meeting “Achieved results of coordinated supervision over applying anti-epidemic measures to combat the spread of COVID-19”.
She has recalled that the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Commission for Coordination of Inspection Supervision have formed a Working Group for Coordination of Republic Inspections, in order to implement measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 with the task of harmonising, coordinating supervision and controlling the application of anti-epidemic measures. According to her, in addition to the republic inspections, the communal inspection and the police, as well as other inspections of the City of Belgrade and all Local Self-government Units in Serbia, joined these efforts.
More than 1.2 million inspections have been carried out, with over 13.5 thousand misdemeanor warrants issued, whereby the numbers which concern the imposed preventive measures are also important, because the state of the COVID-19 pandemic is not only a matter of application of regulations, but also a matter of the spirit and consciousness of the entire nation”, Obradović has pointed out.
According to her, the State has made quite hard and unpopular decisions and measures in the past two years, but it has successfully responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. Vaccines, drugs and medical equipment have been provided and citizens have been enabled to live normally, with the economy working even in these difficult times, Obradović has concluded.
At today’s meeting, organized by the Commission for Coordination of Inspection Supervision, its head, Dr. Goran Stamenković, spoke about the results of the work of the Working Group for the suppression of spread of COVID-19. On this occasion, recognition letters were awarded to inspectors from 25 Local Self-government Units in Serbia, while special awards were given to representatives of Novi Sad for teamwork, Niš for using the COVID Certificate Reader application, and to the communal inspection and police of the cities of Čačak, Šabac and Leskovac for exceptional contribution.
Minister Obradović has awarded a plaque award to the members of the Commission for Coordination and the Working Group of Dr. Stamenković, Jelena Mićić, Danijela Lončar, as well as to the Department of Sanitary Inspection of the Ministry of Health.
