Regarding the allegations of the CRTA Observation Mission that voting invitations addressed to unknown persons are arriving at the residential addresses of citizens, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government urges all such citizens to contact the Ministry of Interior.
Citizens, who are owners of real estate, can request from the Ministry of Interior to perform a check-up, i.e. request the data on persons registered at their residential address, because the registration of residence can be done primarily with their consent, and they can also initiate a procedure for their deregistration.
On this occasion, MDULS points out that the Law on the Single Electoral Roll prescribes, inter alia, that persons who have the right to vote be entered into the Single Electoral Roll, according to their place of residence. The records on the residence of citizens, in accordance with the law, are kept by the competent body, i.e. the Ministry of Interior, while the Single Electoral Roll, as the records on voters, is updated on the basis of it.
As regards the proposal to provide insight into the data on voters by place of residence on the MDULS website, we hereby point out that MDULS, based on ODIHR recommendations given in the previous period, had made the necessary changes and provided access to the data from the Single Electoral Roll to the extent allowed and expedient in accordance with regulations.
We once again urge all citizens to check their data contained in the Single Electoral Roll on the official website of the Ministry https://upit.birackispisak.gov.rs/ or to contact Local Self-government Units if it is necessary to update some of their personal data, as well as that they can do so by 30 March for the elections to be held on 3 April 2022.
