The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, had met today with the representatives of the Government of Kenya, with whom he discussed the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, primarily in the field of e-administration and digitization.
Martinović has said that the Republic of Serbia can be proud of the significant progress it has made in this field in the last few years, and added that our country can serve as an example of good practice for Kenya on its path towards digital transformation. He has emphasized that it is the intention of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for its entire territory to be covered by broadband Internet by the end of 2025, which will be of particular importance for the population living in hilly and mountainous and rural areas, and will enable all citizens, without exception, to access the services of the eGovernment Portal and use the benefits that this portal provides.
At the meeting, which was also attended by the representatives of UNDP in Serbia, he has pointed out the importance of cooperation between the Ministry and this UN agency thus far, both in the field of Public Administration Reform and in the implementation of various high-quality projects at the local level, such as the construction of green markets, rehabilitation local roads, and rehabilitation of kindergartens and schools. The minister has emphasized that Serbia, as a founding country of the United Nations, has always been happily and successfully cooperating with all UN agencies. He also emphasized the importance of the existence of this type of international actors as a guarantee of peace for small countries like Serbia, and that this is why it is particularly important to maintain this type of cooperation with all UN bodies.
The representatives of the Government of Kenya have stated that the economic progress achieved by Serbia in the last ten years is quite noticeable, and that Kenya can learn a lot from the experiences of our country. They have expressed their interest in deepening cooperation between the two countries, as well as their desire to organize state visits at the highest level in the near future.
Martinović has thanked the Government of Kenya for respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, and added that Serbia wishes peace, prosperity and economic development to all African nations.
