The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has visited the Municipality of Bajina Bašta today, where he expressed the possibility of MDULS financing the works on the rehabilitation of the municipality building in the next year, by investing RSD 25 million in the renovation of this building in order to solve the long-standing issue of dislocated functioning of municipal services and civil servants, who currently work in different locations.
“In order for the entire municipal administration to work in one place and ‘under the same roof’, it is necessary to invest approximately RSD 39 million. We are ready to participate financially in the implementation of that project, which is important for all citizens of Bajina Bašta. I have suggested that the municipality should apply for funds from the Ministry at the beginning of the next year, so that we may try to solve this issue together,” minister Martinović has said, adding that Bajina Bašta, like all other local self-governments in Serbia, can rely on MDULS to always be a reliable partner and support in the realization of good ideas.
He has indicated that one of the most important needs of the residents of this region is the construction of a tunnel passing through Kadinjača and the shortening of the road to Užice, noting that the President of the Republic of Serbia spoke about this on several occasions, explaining that the existing road is difficult and strenuous, especially for people who have to travel this section due to health reasons. Minister Martinović has expressed his belief that the implementation of this demanding project would begin next year, which, although complicated to implement, would make life easier and increase the safety of road users on this section.
Minister Martinović has met with the President of the Municipality of Bajina Bašta, Vesna Đurić, and the Head of the Zlatibor Administrative District, Desimir Popović. On this occasion, the minister presented laptops to the municipal administration as a sign of the Ministry’s support for the further development of electronic administration, and he promised help in the segment of increasing the capacities of the municipal administration and improving certain personnel profiles that are important for its work. In addition, he announced that the Government will help find an investor in the field of fruit processing and increase processing capacities, because this area is one of the leaders in fruit production.
The minister also visited the Sports and Recreation Centre “Braća Milutinović”, the rehabilitation of which is planned for next year, as well as the oldest Serbian distillery, “BB Klekovača”.
