The rehabilitation and adaptation of the premises of the Secondary School within the Educational Center “Braća Nedić” in Osečina is nearing completion, while the final works of the first stage of rehabilitation of this building, built at the end of the 19th century, were visited today by the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović. PhD, who announced the possibility of the Ministry financing the second stage of rehabilitation.
The rehabilitation of the building is being carried out with the support of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, which allocated nearly RSD 36 million this year from the Budget Fund for the rehabilitation of this building.
Recalling the fact that he visited Osečina in March of this year and that the area where secondary school classes took place was in a very poor condition, the minister emphasized that he is now satisfied with the progress of the works and the new appearance of the building.
“The first stage is expected to be completed in two weeks at most, and in 2024 we will enter the second stage of rehabilitation, while the Ministry will make an effort to secure the necessary funds in order to bring the appearance of the school to a level that will allow teachers and students to enjoy much better working conditions. We shall continue to evenly aid and finance local self-government projects, because the Government’s position is unique and implies a policy of equal investment in all parts of the country,” minister Martinović has said. He has stated that the State has done a lot in terms of the development of the road infrastructure network, and added that the development of local roads, which are of particular importance for hilly and mountainous areas such as the Osečina area, will not be overlooked.
Minister Martinović has emphasized that the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, is the engine of the development of modern Serbia, and that progress has been made in all spheres of society, from the modernization of schools and hospitals to the strengthening of the army and Serbia’s foreign policy position, thanks to clever moves and decisions.
The minister has expressed his hope that more children will be born in Serbia and that small communities will build even better conditions for life, and particularly emphasized that a situation where the largest number of the population is concentrated in Belgrade and larger cities, while at the same time the rest of Serbia remains, as he said, desolate and empty, must not be allowed. He has said that the equal development of municipalities and cities is imperative, and that the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government is a friend of all local self-governments, and that the aid to Osečina is only a small contribution.
Incidentally, the building where secondary school classes take place in Osečina has great historical and cultural significance. During the Battle of Cer and Battle of Kolubara, this building was turned into a hospital for Serbian soldiers, and was burned down during the Second World War, after which it was restored and returned to its educational activity.
During today’s stay in Osečina, minister Martinović has presented the municipal administration with a contingent of 20 laptops for the needs of more economical and effective work. He also visited the company “Čabar plast”, which deals with the production and processing of plastics.
