The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has made and address today in Knić at the solemn academy on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Municipality, and on that occasion received the Plaque awarded by the local self-government to the Ministry for the exceptional work results achieved and long-term successful cooperation with the Municipality of Knić.
Martinović has said that this valuable recognition confirms that the policy of the Government of the Republic of Serbia is effective, and that this very policy managed to be and remains maximally focused on investments in infrastructure, human resources, investment and business environment in the most difficult moments in recent Serbian history. He has emphasized that the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government strives to achieve the best possible interest of all Knić residents through cooperation with its local self-government.
“Confirmation of good cooperation are the numerous projects which we implemented together for the benefit of all the residents of Knić. Among the latest examples is the rehabilitation and adaptation of the Cultural Centre in Gruža, a project in which the Ministry invested RSD 5 million, which improved the conditions of the cultural life of citizens. We also helped introduce a modern system for managing electronic documents, which modernized the work of the municipal administration, while Knić received the Annual Award for the best local self-government in the “efficiency and effectiveness” category. All this clearly speaks in favour of the fact that we closely monitor the demands and needs of citizens, and meet their wishes whenever possible”, the minister has said, and added that Šumadija, as the cradle of modern Serbian statehood, remains in the rank of administrative districts of the largest strategic importance.
Pointing out that it took too long for Serbia to move itself and find true national strength, Martinović has said that our country is strong and proud today, but that, despite the great progress made in previous years, there is still much that the state leadership can achieve.
“Serbia has always drawn its greatest potential from its own people, who gave it the strength to survive even in the most difficult moments. Now that we unequivocally know what its scope is and what our Serbia can do and achieve, there is no turning back. Serbia is growing, Serbia is being built, Serbia is getting stronger. Serbia is becoming a strong country, the way it should be. We are moving forward with it, convinced that Serbia has yet to show its true power, independence and strength,” Martinović has emphasized.
At the ceremony marking the Day of the Municipality of Knić, minister Martinović presented the representatives of the municipal administration with a donation of the Ministry in the form of 20 laptops, with the aim of improving and facilitating the work of the local administration.
At the end of the solemn academy, minister Martinović and the envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Milorad Veljović, in the presence of the President of the Temporary Authority of the Municipality of Knić, Srećko Ilić, have solemnly opened the Office for Youth of the Municipality of Knić.
