UZICE OFFICIALLY DECLARED NATIONAL CAPITAL OF CULTURE FOR 2024

On a solemn ceremony held last night on the town square and attended by a large number of citizens, Užice was declared the capital of culture of the Republic of Serbia for 2024. In this way, in a symbolic act of takeover, Užice took over the title that was held by the city of Čačak during the whole last year. State Secretary Đorđe Dabić attended the event as the representative of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.

Throughout the year, various cultural events will be organized in Užice under the slogan “Era of Culture” through four thematic areas, which include cultural-historical heritage and contemporary artistic trends aligned with the strategic framework of Užice’s cultural development: “Lučonoše”, “Pla(e )menite baklje”, “Šarena svetla reflektora” and “Cyber ​​era”. The artistic concept of this year’s project was developed under the motto of light and is firmly grounded in tradition.

Minister of Culture Maja Gojković and Mayor Jelena Raković Radivojević spoke at the last night’s formal event in Užice, and among those present were Nikola Selaković, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, as well as other representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
