STATE SECRETARY OF MDULS MAČUŽIĆ PUZIĆ AT THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

State Secretary in the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Maja Mačužić Puzić spoke today, on behalf of Minister Aleksandar Martinović, at the First International Conference on Human Resource Management in Public Administration entitled “Innovative strategies for attracting talents, improving development and creating an inspiring work environment “.

Mačužić Puzić pointed out that the challenges public administrations of all countries have been facing in the last few years require a large engagement of both human and financial resources, as well as responsible management and efficient response, and stated that the administration of the Republic of Serbia continuously works to attract and retain high-quality and competent employees, sufficiently professional and able to respond to the changes and trends of accelerated digitization, but also to the needs of citizens and the business.

“Professional public administration is the basis for the functioning of the country, which is why the Government of the Republic of Serbia has been determined for several years to modernize the process of human resource management and to improve the quality and competencies of its employees, as well as of the personnel planning through the reform of the civil service system. Strengthening human resource management units, improvement of analytical capacities and promotion of public administration as a desirable employer will continue to be the guiding idea for further reform processes in the future, with the ultimate goal of creating a responsible, efficient and transparent public administration at the service of citizens”, said Mačužić Puzić.

She added that over the past five years, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government has integrated the competency framework into all areas of human resource management at the state level, and that the analysis of the implementation of this framework is currently being worked on, which should determine the direction of its further development.

“For the last two years, we have been actively including the local level of administration in the implementation of the competence framework, because strengthening the capacity of local self-governments is extremely important and will remain one of the basic priorities of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government,” emphasized Mačužić Puzić.

The two-day international conference is organized by the Human Resource Management Service (HRM) of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, with the aim of exchanging experience and knowledge between representatives of authorities from the countries of the region and Europe. In the opening part of the event, the director of HRM, Danilo Rončević, and the regional director of the Hanns Seidel Foundation for Southeast Europe, Klaus Fiesinger, addressed the audience.
