Ružić with Ruf on salary system reform

The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Branko Ružić, has spoken with James Ruf, Head of the IMF Mission to Serbia, about the results of public administration reform, with a special focus on the salary system reform. Ružić expressed his gratitude to the Mission for its support in the previous period, and a hope that the cooperation will continue in the coming period, because, as he says, the Mission’s expert support will be very important for the continuation of the salary system reform. This support is expected primarily in terms of determining the financial effects of the changes that the reform brings. “Much has been done in the last few years – laws and secondary legislation, which set guidelines for further work in order to know exactly who does what, how and for what money, have been passed,” the Minister said. He said that the reform does not only contribute to better governance of the state finances and human resources, but also to the creation of a fairer and more transparent system, and therefore to a greater motivation of employees in the administration, which ultimately contributes to the improvement of the quality of services that we as the administration provide. The Minister pointed out that the negotiations with the trade unions on determining the coefficients in public services are to start in the summer, and that this is the most difficult task because the salary system reform covers 470,000 employees.
