The representatives of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government have met today with the representatives of the Needs Assessment Mission of the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR).
At the meeting, which was held at the Ministry’s building, the Deputy Head of the ODIHR Election Department, Ulvi Akhundlu, ODIHR Election Advisor, Kseniya Dashutina, and representative of the Secretariat of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Stéphanie Koltchanov, have expressed their interest in issues related to keeping records on voters in the Republic of Serbia.
The Assistant Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government at the Sector for Registers and Local Self-Government, Marina Dražić, has pointed out that the Single Electoral Roll has been kept as a single centralized database since 2012. She has recalled that the Single Electoral Roll is a mirror of other records and that a lot has been done to link it with other records that are kept about citizens, and above all about domicile and place of residence, as well as with the Civil Records in order to update the data obtained from the Register of Births, Register of Marriages and Register of Deaths, resulting in this database being more organized than ever before.
She added that the Ministry has enabled citizens to check the data contained in the Single Electoral Roll through the national eGovernment portal and that, if necessary, they can submit a request for entry/change of data in a simple way.
At the meeting, it was pointed out that MDULS has always had excellent cooperation with the OSCE/ODIHR, and that it will continuously work on monitoring the accuracy and completeness of data on citizens contained in the Single Electoral Roll.
