Antić: Bolzano/Bozen recommendations still current even after 10 years

“Protection of rights of national minorities is very important for the Republic of Serbia”, said Assistant Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Ivana Antić at a conference held to commend the 10th anniversary of the Bolzano/Bozen Recommendations on National Minorities in Inter-State Relations.

At the conference held in Udine, she said that Serbia showed great willingness to protect national minorities by treating that issue as a framework where amicable relations between countries could be developed and deepened. “Our country showed this by complying in good faith with provisions of all relevant international law instruments relating to protection of national minorities through conclusion of as many as four bilateral agreements”, added Ms Antić, one of the panellists at the meeting. She concluded that Bolzano/Bozen Recommendations were still current even after 10 years and emphasized the importance of full compliance with the Recommendations.
