“Intensifying cooperation between local self-government units of Serbia and Poland can be of great value for the citizens of both countries, and the experience of your country on the European path will greatly contribute to Serbia as a candidate for EU membership,” said the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Marija Obradovic at the meeting held with the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Serbia, Mr Rafał Paweł Perl.
They agreed that in the coming period, the collaboration between the National Academy of Public Administration and the National School of Public Administration of the Republic of Poland needs to be further enhanced, which may be of particular importance for local managers in Serbia, for whom NAJU prepared special training programs.
Obradović added that this year, the Network of Women Mayors and Presidents of Municipalities in Serbia was established at her initiative, with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Serbia, aimed at having the heads of local self-government units exchange their experience and best practices, thus helping each other in their work and solving any issues arising at the local level.
Obradović and Perl also discussed the course of vaccination against Covid 19 in both countries. They asserted that the vaccination rate in Serbia and Poland did not reach the level of herd immunity, while Minister Obradović expressed her concern over the low percentage of vaccinated youth population in our country.
Ambassador Perl invited Minister Obradović to take part in the Economic Forum, to be held in September this year in Karpacz.
