The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has met today in Novi Kneževac with the President of this Municipality, Radovan Uverić, PhD, and the Head of the North Banat Administrative District, Miroslav Dučić, with whom he discussed the issues and challenges that the local self-government faces, as well as planned projects whose implementation could be support by MDULS.
Martinović has pointed out that the municipal administration building, which is under the protection of the Intermunicipal Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Subotica, is in need of rehabilitation, and announced the possibility that MDULS would, in the next year, finance a project to replace its roofing, the value of which amounts to approximately RSD 20 million.
At the same time, the minister has visited the Healthcare Centre in Novi Kneževac, which is also in need of complete rehabilitation. He has recalled that there have been no major investments in the facilities of this healthcare institution since the 60’s, when they were originally built. He added that he shall inform his colleagues from the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Provincial Government about this issue, in order to solve it with joint forces as soon as possible.
The meeting discussed, among other things, ways to promote the economy in this region, the possibilities of building an industrial zone, and the need for new investments.
During today’s stay in Novi Kneževac, Martinović has donated laptops to the municipal administration as a form of support for the development and functioning of electronic administration, and also visited the farm of Jovica Marjanović, which has been successfully engaged in the production of paprika for many years.
