The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has visited today the secondary school building of the “Braća Nedić” Educational Centre in Osečina, for the reconstruction of which the Municipality applied for funds from the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government in the amount of RSD 35.9 million.
On that occasion, Martinović has noted that there are four profiles in secondary school in Osečina, and that the building at which classes are held was built at the end of the 19th century, but that there were no major investments since the renovation of this building after the end of the Second World War.
“There have been no investments in the building for decades, and it is in a very poor condition. The Ministry will do everything to ensure that Osečina receives the full amount of funds in order to renovate this facility, so that both students and teachers can have decent working conditions”, minister Martinović has said. He added that it is our historical obligation to help this part of Serbia, because Serbia is beholden to the people of this region who fought for its freedom.
Recalling that during the Great War, the facility was repurposed into a hospital at which Serbian soldiers and those wounded in the Battles of Kolubara and Cer were treated, the minister had also emphasized the historical importance of the persons after whom the Educational Centre was named. He has emphasized that the Educational Centre bears the name of great heroes, the Nedić brothers, who, after the famous Battle of Čokešina, were immortalized in a folk song.
During this visit, minister Martinović held a meeting with the Head of the Kolubara Administrative District, Miloš Milutinović, the President of the Municipality of Osečina, Nikola Tomić, the Deputy President of the Municipality, Biljana Mićić, and the Head of the Municipal Administration, Mladenka Nenadović.
Martinović has announced that he will inform the members of the Government about all the problems that were presented to him and that the municipality is facing.
“Although Osečina is predominantly a fruit-growing and agricultural region, it also has potential for the development of other branches of the economy. We will do everything in our power to provide assistance and bring investors. One of our goals is for underdeveloped regions to move forward, and to reduce the developmental differences among local self-governments,” Martinović has concluded.
On this occasion, Martinović also visited the renovated Primary School and Sports Centre in Osečina.
