In the past few years, the State of Serbia had invested significant funds in all our spas, which today look more beautiful than many European spas. One of them is Sokobanja, which is developing year by year and was declared as the most visited spa for this year. Sokobanja has proven to be a reliable partner of the State, where every cent is invested in the best possible way. Through the synergy of the State and the local self-government, the Cultural Centre – the “Moravica” cinema, which was non-functional for 30 years – was rehabilitated” the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has said today in Sokobanja during his visit of this cinema, whose second stage of rehabilitation is supported by MDULS with RSD 11 million.
Martinović has stressed that the works on the Cultural Centre were carried out according to the highest and most modern standards, and that the building now looks grandiose. On this occasion, he also visited the One-Stop-Shop, in the establishment of which MDULS had invested RSD 5 million, as well as the summer stage, where adaptation of the prefab roofing is necessary.
Pointing to the huge tourism potential that this municipality has, to great hotels, medical spa complexes and rehabilitation centres, Martinović has pointed out that Sokobanja is the best spa and tourist centre in Southeast Serbia, and that the State will continue to invest in its development.
“One of the priority projects planned by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which is of great importance to the people living here, is the access road to the highway. The entire Zaječar Administrative District deserves this. The implementation of that project shall additionally improve the comprehensive development of local self-governments on its territory, and I am convinced that it will also contribute to greater attendance at Sokobanja, which is already well on its way to becoming the most attractive tourist destination in Serbia, in support of which a large number of local and foreign tourists have been vocal,” Martinović has said.
During the today’s visit, the minister held a meeting with the President of the Municipality of Sokobanja, Miodrag Nikolić, PhD, and the Head of the Zaječar Administrative District, Vladan Paunović, and donated laptops to the municipal administration as a form of support for the development and functioning of electronic administration in Sokobanja. Martinović has also visited the agricultural holding “Pčelinjak Radivojević”, which produces honey from the region of Rtanj mountain and rakija with honey.
