MDULS: IT IS NOT TRUE THAT THE NUMBER OF VOTERS HAS DECREASED BY 41,110 IN THE LAST THREE AND A HALF MONTHS

The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government hereby denies CRTA’s arbitrary allegations that in 6% of polling stations in Serbia, the number of registered voters has decreased by 41,110 voters, or an average of 400 voters per day, in the last three and a half months.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government hereby categorically rejects the information presented as untrue, arbitrary and harmful.

“The presented statements are absolutely incorrect and do not correspond to the factual situation. The number of voters from December 17, 2023 up to today has changed by 24,000 for the entire territory of Serbia. The trend of the decrease in the number of voters fully corresponds with the number of deceased persons in the Republic of Serbia on an annual basis, according to the data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

The Ministry informs the public that in order to keep the voter list up-to-date, the local self-government units acted upon requests received through official channels immediately after the elections, i.e. from December 18, 2023, in addition to continuing to act upon personal requests from citizens submitted in the period after the election.

The Ministry appeals to all interested entities not to go public with unverified information that can only harm the citizens of Serbia, as well as cause unfounded doubts about the work of competent institutions.
