On the occasion of the beginning of the new school year, the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, had visited the Primary Schools “Vuk Karadžić” and “Abdullah Krashnica” in Preševo today, and distributed school supplies and school bags to the first-year students, along with donating laptops to these schools.
Martinović has emphasized that investing in children is the most important investment, and that it is the task of the State and of local self-governments to provide them with decent conditions for growing up and education. He has recalled that the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the entire Government of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the Coordination Body, are firmly resolute that the Albanians living in this part of Serbia, primarily in Bujanovac and Preševo, are equal with all other citizens, and that the interest of the State is to foster good relations between Serbs and Albanians, because this is the only guarantee of the progress of this part of the country.
“All citizens of Serbia who see our country as their homeland are equal in the eyes the State leadership. It is important for us to cultivate harmony and togetherness, and the State shall invest more resources so that young people can stay in the south of the country. Peace, harmony and economic progress of this region are the policies pursued and advocated by the country’s leadership,” Martinović has pointed out and added that the Government helped to establish an industrial zone of 13.5 hectares in Preševo, and that it will also support the attracting of investors which will put this land into operation.
Martinović has also announced the possibility that MDULS would support the implementation of specific projects in this municipality during the next year, and also expressed his belief that the better living standards of citizens will influence the minimization of inter-ethnic disagreements in this part of Serbia.
The President of the Municipality of Preševo, Shqiprim Arifi, has expressed his satisfaction that the minister and president of the Coordination Body for the South of Serbia is interested in working on the prosperity and economic development of the Municipality of Preševo. He has pointed out that in addition to promoting peace and stability in this region, a lot should be done to improve the living conditions of all nationalities living in Preševo.
Following the meeting with the President of the Municipality of Preševo, Shqiprim Arifi, and members of the Office of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, Martinović had also visited the CB’s Office in Preševo to which he donated laptops.
