Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Branko Ruzic spoke with Mayor of Morahalom from Hungary Zoltan Nogradi in Zrenjanin, who was invited by Mayor Cedomir Janjic.
Minister Ruzic praised the results of the City of Zrenjanin achieved so far and expressed support for strengthening future cross-border co-operation with neighbouring countries because, in his words, this is the only way to promote European values in our region.
Mayor of Moraholom said that a joint project on building a Serbian-Hungarian cultural centre in Morahalm is currently being prepared, and in addition to cultural cooperation, Morahalom will be a bridge between the European Union and our country.
After the meeting, Minister Ruzic ceremoniously opened the 34th competition in cooking fish soup “Zlatni kotlić” (Golden kettle) and the 10th “Djula Farkas-Farki” memorial, while the guests from Hungary had the opportunity to present their culture, customs and gastronomic offer in such a big event.
Ruzic expressed his satisfaction with what he had the opportunity to see in Zrenjanin.
“Cross-border cooperation with Hungary and Romania, the disbursement of funds from the European Union, the use of various grants and experiences are a good indicator of the excellent managerial potential that the city of Zrenjanin owns. I think that a professional and modern attitude and understanding of the leadership of this important city greatly contributes to transferring all these contents to end users, namely citizens of Serbia, the Central Banat District, AP Vojvodina,” Ruzic said, adding that Zrenjanin is a good example of how one can affirm what is at hand, but what we fail to always use.
