MINISTRY OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT ALLOCATED 410 MILLION RSD TO MUNICIPALITIES AND TOWNS IN SERBIA

Today in Čačak, the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, signed contracts on the distribution of 410 million RSD in non-reimbursable budget funds with representatives of 27 local governments. Financial resources were allocated to selected cities and municipalities within the Local Fund and are intended for the implementation of 29 projects that will contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens.

This year, 20 local self-government units will receive more than 360 million RSD for infrastructure work on kindergartens, schools, cultural, sports and public administration facilities, communal infrastructure, and public areas. Seven municipalities and cities will receive more than 40 million RSD for the procurement and support of the use of information and communication technologies, which will enable the introduction of electronic administration and better provision of services to citizens and the economy. Each local self-government will receive more than five million RSD for the organization of cultural, sports and tourist events, as well as for a project that contributes to the preventive protection of buildings, property and citizens from natural and other disasters.

Pointing out that local governments applied for this year’s funds from the Local Fund with as many as 180 projects, Martinović emphasized that this only shows the importance of this fund, and that it is recognized at the local level as an efficient mechanism for development.

“Within the selected 27 local governments whose implementation of projects is financially supported by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, there are municipalities from Ada in the north to Bosilegrad in the south. This speaks in favour of the fact that the policy implemented by the Government of Serbia and the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, takes into account the integral development of the country. Over the past 12 years, Serbia has experienced enormous economic development. Today, it is the leader of the Western Balkans in all areas of social life. We achieved incredible results in attracting investments, creating new jobs, building highways, but all this will not make sense if the interior of Serbia remains empty, and the population remains concentrated in larger cities such as Belgrade and Novi Sad,” said Martinović. He added that it is the task of the Government of Serbia, the President of the Republic, as well as every municipal president and mayor, to provide citizens with the best possible living conditions in the environments in which they were born.

During today’s address, Minister Martinović announced that a new public call for the allocation of funds will be sent during the year, after the budget rebalancing, and that he was sure that Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government will be able to help a certain number of local self-government units in the implementation of projects.

As a reminder, this year, Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government has also allocated 90 million RSD for the establishment and improvement of unique administrative posts in another 14 municipalities and towns in Serbia, and the contracts on the distribution of these funds were signed two days ago by Minister Martinović and representatives of selected local self-governments in Gornji Milanovac
