The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, visited the Novi Beograd Health Center today, where together with the director of the Health Centre, Dr. Božica Novaković, and the President of the City Municipality Novi Beograd, Bojan Bovan, he also visited the preschool dispensary, which will be renovated with the financial support of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government. For the implementation of this project, which involves the replacement of floors and the painting of walls and ceilings in the premises of the pediatric service, the Ministry allocated three million RSD this year.
Pointing out that health center Novi Beograd is one of the largest health centers, not only in Belgrade, but in the whole of Serbia, and that significant investments are needed in its renovation and equipment, Minister Martinović said that with this modest contribution, the Ministry that he manages is trying to help ensure better service and healthcare for patients and better working conditions for doctors and medical staff. He added that he is particularly glad that the money will be invested in the renovation of rooms where children are treated, and said that taking care of the health of citizens, especially the youngest, is an imperative of the state leadership and the City of Belgrade.
“This assistance from the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government is a very clear signal that not only is the line ministry concerned about improving health care, but that investing in our health system is also one of the priority tasks of the entire Government of Serbia and the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić,” said Martinović.
He reminded that his Ministry recently signed an Agreement with the City of Belgrade on the procurement of state-of-the-art medical equipment for several health institutions on the territory of the capital. As he stated, the funds in the amount of about 320 million RSD are allocated for the purchase of magnetic resonance imaging, mammography and ultrasound machines, which, according to him, will significantly contribute to improving the quality of health care and patient safety.
Martinović expressed the hope that, after the formation of the new Government and the rebalancing of the budget, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government will issue another public call for the allocation of funds to local self-governments for the implementation of various projects, which would open up opportunities for further assistance in the renovation of the New Belgrade City Hall, as well as other health institutions throughout Serbia.
Health Centre Novi Beograd, as the carrier of primary health care in the City Municipality Novi Beograd, provides preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation services for about 200 thousand patients, of which 44 thousand are children. During today’s visit to this health facility, Minister Martinović donated 10 laptops to the Health Centre Novi Beograd.
