Today, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government received the award handed over by the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection for his contribution to the promotion of the right to free access to information in the category of Serbian public authorities.
The award was received on behalf of MPALSG by Minister Marija Obradović, who stated that this recognition is dedicated to all employees in the Ministry, who contributed to MPALSG with their work and attitude towards the citizens so that it became acknowledged as the institution that deserved such recognition.
She added that the Commissioner’s award is a special obligation and incentive for the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government to continue with providing no less than the same high-quality services.
“The institution of the Commissioner enjoys great support from the Government and we insist on a transparent approach to citizens.
Starting from the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, the Prime Minister, Ana Brnabić, all members of the Government, all the levels of government, created a climate in which independent institutions are able to unhinderedly work and develop their capacities.
After 15 years since its adoption, we started and completed our work on amendments to the Law. We adopted the well-intended remarks of NGOs and the media, used the vast expertise of the Commissioner and his team, received the support of relevant international institutions and we can now state with pride that we are about to fulfill one of the main conditions of Chapter 23 that is critical for Serbia’s EU integration process,” concluded Obradović.
