State Secretary, Zikica Nestorovic has said, presenting the Draft Act on E-Government, that this piece of legislation is one of the basic pillars of developing a full and functional e-government and that in practice it will enable equal use of electronic and paper documents in all administrative and court proceedings, with the tendency to minimize the use of paper and counters.
At the round table, which has been organized on occasion of the public consultation on this Act today, State Secretary has emphasized that its application will enable greater efficiency in work, reduce the costs for the administration, citizens and economy, but it will also create new values in almost all areas of life and work.
Nestorovic has stressed that the effects of implementation of this Act – greater legal certainty, transparency, investments and better planning of development policy – will be felt by all citizens and the economy, as well as by public administration employees. “If we enable safe use of modern information and communication technologies and facilitate communication with the authorities, we will also reduce the need for citizens and business people to”go from one counter to another”, and ensure real opportunities for them to complete their administrative transactions faster, which will increase the level of their satisfaction” he explained.
Serbia has waited for these changes for a long time. The modern world started to use and benefit from all the advantages of new technologies way back. “We are catching up with the world, however we are not alone on this path and, more importantly, we are determined to accept these changes and implement them to make the state apparatus more efficient and capable of supporting and encouraging the growth of the private sector as the main driver of economic development” said Nestorovic.
