REGIONAL OPEN DATA CHALLENGE 2024: RESPA AND UNDP SERBIA PROMOTE THE USE OF OPEN DATA AND AWARD THE WINNERS OF THE COMPETITION

The Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA), in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program in Serbia (UNDP Serbia), hosted the Regional Open Data Challenge 2024 (RODC2024). This unique initiative recognizes, promotes and awards the innovative reuse of open data with the aim of encouraging cooperation between the public, non-governmental, academic and private sectors in the use of open data to jointly contribute to a greener, more inclusive and digital future.

The call is open until May 3, 2024 and is aimed at individuals/groups of individuals, civil society organizations, companies, the academic community, scientific research institutions in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.

The Regional Open Data Challenge 2024 invites all interested parties to develop mobile or web applications and to use the power of data published by public institutions in ReSPA member states.

Participants should develop ideas or ready-made solutions using the power of open data, within the four offered challenges:

  • Mobility and transport data
  • Labour mobility
  • Tourist atlas
  • Demographic trends

The condition for participation in the competition is the use of at least one set of open data from the open data portal of the member ReSPA administrations or at least one set of open data from the website of any public institution (in case that data set is not available on the national open data portal). The additional data sets used can be in any usable format (for example: Excel), and the source of these data can be any public administration body, as well as data from the website data.europa.eu, which refer to ReSPA members.

A total prize fund of USD 20,000 will be distributed among the competition winners.
