SERBIAN REGISTRARS’ DAY – AWARDS TO SENTA, SMEDEREVSKA PALANKA AND NOVI PAZAR FOR THE MOST EFFICIENT REGISTRY SERVICES

The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government has marked today the Serbian Registrars’ Day, and on that occasion awarded the most efficient registry services in municipal and city administrations. The Municipalities of Senta and Smederevska Palanka and the City of Novi Pazar received their rewards from the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD.

Recalling that registrars perform one of the most important tasks of public administration, and that the strength of their role lies in the fact that they record the most important moments in the lives of citizens, Martinović had congratulated the awardees on their successful work and wished them to have as many entries in the Register of Births and Register of Marriages as possible.

“It is important that we have as many children as possible, because children are the future of Serbia, and everything we do in the field of economy, but also in all other fields, only makes sense if we have someone to inherit that. I must also mention that the registers represent not only basic official records of citizens’ personal circumstances, but also a resource that allows us to quickly and simply provide services to end users through the mechanism of “electronic data exchange”, the minister has pointed out.

He added that registrars nowadays use innovative tools and all the advantages of modern information and communication technologies. As he has said, the keeping of registers in electronic form within the Civil Records created conditions for constant growth in the number and quality of services intended directly for citizens, among which the latest service of the Ministry is “eExcerpt” at the eGovernment Portal.

At the event at the Palace of Serbia, the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to Serbia, Soufiane Adjali, and the Assistant to the Head of the Administrative Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, Suzana Stanić Carević, have addressed the attendees – the representatives of institutions with which the Ministry has achieved excellent cooperation in resolving issues of legal invisibility. Marina Dražić, Assistant to the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government in the Sector for Registers and Local Self-Government, spoke about the results achieved so far in the field of registers.

As a reminder, the Serbian Registrars’ Day is marked in remembrance of 9 May 1946, when the first Law on Civil Records entered into force, which introduced and regulated the unified keeping of registers throughout the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
