“Last year alone, citizens made 10 million visits to public counters less, considering that the public administration institutions are now exchanging data from the official database, evidencing our significant progress in providing services to citizens and businesses,” said the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Marija Obradović at this year’s virtual High-level Policy Dialogue organized by the Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA).
Referring to the results achieved so far within the PAR, Obradović emphasized that the progress in the field of digitalization and development of e-government contributed to Serbia’s ability to provide a quick and efficient response to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Despite the challenges, we managed to reach certain results, as evidenced by the fact that Serbia won the largest number of 2020 awards in the Western Balkans by ReSPA and SIGMA in the field of public administration reform,” the Minister said.
She asserted that Serbia made great efforts to reform its public administration and harmonize it with European standards, with the ultimate objective to promote its efficiency, transparency and to be tailored to the needs of all citizens and the economy.
“One of the key challenges in the forthcoming period will be the full implementation of the new PAR Strategy, and further regional cooperation will be essential, primarily through mutual exchange of experiences and knowledge,” Obradovic concluded, emphasizing that the current Government and MPALSG appreciated the efforts of ReSPA towards providing the support to Serbia in its reform activities.
Ministers in charge of public administration in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Northern Macedonia, as well as the highest representatives of the European Commission for the Western Balkans, also took part in this year’s High-level Policy Dialogue. The objective of this gathering was to provide a joint analysis of the achieved results and set up the strategic pathway for the development of PAR for the next year.
