“Vaccination and compliance to all epidemiological measures is the only way to suppress the Covid-19 virus pandemic, which is why the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government has recognized the need to provide another type of support to the most vulnerable citizens by distributing hygienic family packages,” the State Secretary of the Ministry Stevan Gligorin pointed out during today’s visit to the substandard settlement Licika in Kragujevac.
Gligorin visited the stand meant for applying for immunization against the Covid-19 virus and the distribution of hygienic family packages, as well as the vaccination point, where he talked with the residents of the settlement about the advantages and the importance of vaccination and complying with the measures and doctors’ advice. He emphasized once again that the state is seriously committed to providing support so that all categories of the population could be vaccinated against Covid-19, and that no one has been left behind, and no one mush be left behind in the process.
In a conversation with the representatives of the City, Gligorin praised Kragujevac for the efforts made to increase the number of vaccinated citizens, with a special emphasis on the members of the Roma national minority. Almost all the inhabitants of Licika were vaccinated against the corona virus, and today, in that Roma settlement, 150 hygienic family packages were distributed out of a total of 1250, which Kragujevac received for thirteen substandard settlements on its territory.
The Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, in cooperation with the Serbian Red Cross, will distribute over 12,000 hygiene family packages to the most vulnerable citizens in 179 substandard settlements on the territory of 29 cities and municipalities in Serbia. Financial support for this initiative was provided by the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Open Society Foundation, the SCTM and the UNHCR.
