The sports hall at the Secondary School “Dragačevo” in Lučani, the construction of which commenced back in 2006, was finally opened and consecrated on the first day of the new school year. The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government had allocated RSD 12 million for completing the final stage of construction of this sports hall, while the hall was officially opened today by the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, in the presence of the President of the Municipality of Lučani, Milivoj Dolović, and famous volleyball players, Željko Tanasković and Duško Nikolić, who hail from this municipality.
Such sports infrastructure contributes not only to the achievement of better working conditions, education and stay of students and employees at the Secondary School “Dragačevo”, but also to improving the conditions for engaging in sports by youth living in Lučani, as well as for the development of sports tourism. As announced at the opening of this facility, the idea is to hold the Balkan Volleyball Championship in this hall in the future.
“Even much larger cities in Serbia do not have such a magnificent building. We hereby promote the fostering of physical activity and send a message to youth in Serbia that it is important to engage in sports, primarily for their well-being. I hope that this sports hall will not only be used for physical education classes and recreation, but that it will also be able to host national and regional competitions in various sports,” minister Martinović has said.
Referring to his recent visit to Guča, during which he opened the reconstructed kindergarten “Bambi”, Martinović has said that the Municipality of Lučani can count on the Government of the Republic of Serbia as its reliable partner in the future as well, for the implementation of other quality projects. According to him, work on the construction of a sports complex in Guča shall soon commence, which speaks in favour of the fact that the State had invested significant funds in the development of this part of Serbia, and that this has yielded results.
