CODE OF ETHICS TO ASSIST THE QUALITY PERFORMANCE OF LOCAL OFFICIALS

Assistant Minister in charge of the Sector for the System of Local Self-Government, Sasa Mogić, participated today in an international e-conference entitled “Code of Ethics for Local Self-Government Officials in Europe and Serbia”.

Speaking about the Code of Ethics in the light of strengthening democratic values ​​and implementing the principles of good governance, Mogić pointed out that the goal of the Code is to help local officials perform the duty of people’s representatives in local self-government in the best possible way.

He stated that The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government welcomes the adoption of the Code at the 47th Assembly of the SCTM and called on all cities and municipalities to adopt it.

Ethics in performing local self-government is extremely important, because without ethics and integrity there is no rule of law, no full implementation of the reform of the local self-government system, which is why the Ministry attributes great importance to this topic, carrying out numerous activities to improve the ethical standard of officials concluded Mogić.

This e-Conference, attended by representatives of local governments in Serbia, SCTM, OSCE, and the Council of Europe, exchanging European and domestic experiences and standards of conduct of public officials at the local level, was organized by SCTM, with the support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
