Eight cities and municipalities in Serbia will receive 40 million dinars from the budget of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government for 2021 for the establishment of a single administrative position (JUM) in their communities.
The cities of Niš and Novi Pazar, the city municipalities of Stari grad and Zemun, as well as the municipalities of Aleksinac, Aranđelovac, Sokobanja and Varvarin met the criteria of the competition announced by the Ministry in February this year, when 37 cities and municipalities applied.
Four years ago, the Ministry launched a project to establish JUM with the aim of increasing the efficiency, effectiveness, and economy of local self-government units, as well as simplifying procedures, enabling reduction of administrative burden, saving time and money, and functioning of the administration as a service of citizens.
Cities and municipalities in Serbia that want to establish JUM must meet certain criteria and preconditions, such as having some electronic services already in place. The allocated budget funds that are intended for the JUM formation and equipping, as well for the procurement of the necessary technical equipment.
JUM in Serbia is so far established in 14 cities and municipalities, namely Lazarevac, Šabac, Žitište, Smederevska Palanka, Bela Palanka, Sombor, Kruševac, Vlasotince, Užice, Gornji Milanovac, Rača, Pirot, Kuršumlija and Stara Pazova, and by the end of this year The citizens of Paraćin, Topola, and Kosjerić will also obtain JUM.
