FOURTEEN ENTREPRENEURS FROM BUJANOVAC, PREŠEVO AND MEDVEĐA RECEIVED SUBSIDIES, MARTINOVIĆ STRESSED THE GOVERNMENT’S FIRM COMMITMENT TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOUTHERN SERBIA

Today, fourteen entrepreneurs from Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa have signed contracts on the allocation of subsidies in the total amount of RSD 34 million. The signing of the contract was attended by the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, as well as by the Director of the Coordination Body’s Office, Nenad Mitrović, the President of the Municipality of Bujanovac, Nagip Arifi, and the representatives of the Municipalities of Preševo and Medveđa.

The Coordination Body’s Office has been awarding financial resources in the form of subsidies to entrepreneurs in these three municipalities for 11 years. By the beginning of 2023, a total of 175 entrepreneurs have received more than RSD 425 million, which resulted in the employment of around 350 people. This year, slightly more than RSD 14 million have been allocated to 6 entrepreneurs from Bujanovac, close to RSD 13 million to 5 entrepreneurs from Preševo and almost RSD 7 million to 3 entrepreneurs from Medveđa.

Martinović has pointed out that today’s event illustrates the firm commitment of the Government of the Republic of Serbia to help the economic development of this part of the country. Noting that both Serbian and Albanian entrepreneurs have received financial resources today, he added that the only criterion for selecting the companies to be subsidized was that they meet all the requirements of the competition.

“The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Coordination Body shall continue to aid entrepreneurs from Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa in the future, regardless of their national or religious affiliation. These local self-governments belong to the category of underdeveloped municipalities, and we need to make additional efforts to help people engaged in various economic activities in this part of Serbia and make their life easier, to promote economic development and raise the standard of living,” Martinović has said.

The minister wished much success to the entrepreneurs who signed the contracts today, to use the allocated funds purposefully, to employ people and expand their production capacities, as well as to improve the quality of their products and services and position themselves as best as possible, above all in the market of the Republic of Serbia, but also, as he said, outside the borders of our country if possible.

Referring to the previously held meeting with the President of the Municipality of Bujanovac, Nagip Arifi, Martinović has pointed out that they had a very constructive discussion about all the challenges this local self-government is facing, and showed good will to jointly approach the solving of the problems. He recalled that in the previous months he held meetings with the Presidents of the Municipalities of Preševo and Medveđa, Shqiprim Arifi and Dragan Kulić, and emphasized that MDULS and the Coordination Body will be more present on the ground in the coming period, in order to talk with the leaders of these three municipalities. but also with the citizens and entrepreneurs who live and work there.
