“Although we can be satisfied with our work so far regarding activities within the Open Government Partnership, we are also aware that there is a significant scope for improvement, particularly in terms of cooperation with civil society and the ambition of commitments contained in action plans. This is why, on a proposal by MPALSG, the Government recently passed the new Decision on Formation of the PAR Council, which ensured that issues regarding the Partnership are reviewed within this Government’s advisory body, formed at the highest, ministerial level”, said State Secretary Stevan Gligorin today at the sixth meeting of the Working Group for preparation of the fourth Action Plan for the period from 2020 to 2022 and implementation of participation the Republic of Serbia in the Open Government Partnership initiative.
Talking about activities undertaken by MPALSG in the first half of the current year, he noted that the global Open Government Partnership Week was celebrated in May, during which about 250 participants talked within three online events about inclusion of local self-governments in activities within this initiative and the development of the values of open government on the local level, recognition of the needs of minority groups by public administration and the currently applicable Action Plan.
“We used the Open Government Partnership Week as an opportunity to stimulate higher participation of the youth, people with disabilities and the Roma national minority in activities in connection with the Partnership and I believe that this is the first important step towards their higher participation in future processes and also higher participation of all other minority groups”, said Mr. Gligorin.
He added that MPALSG in the previous period also worked intensively on creation of a separate section on the future eConsultation Portal, which would ensure fully electronic participation in development and monitoring of future action plans which would be passed as part of participation of our country in the Open Government Partnership.
The main topic of today’s meeting was review of the implementation of the applicable Action Plan for the period from 2020 to 2022, during the first six months of 2021.
