MARTINOVIĆ: CARING FOR THE SOUTH OF OUR COUNTRY IS THE OBLIGATION OF THE SERBIAN GOVERNMENT

“It is my honour to be here today to pay tribute to all the fighters who selflessly laid down their lives for their homeland, and who will forever be remembered as steadfast warriors and brave fighters for the liberation and preservation of Serbia. Thanks to them, we exist today. Thanks to them, our beloved Serbia lives on,” the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has said today in Trgovište, at the marking of the 79th anniversary of the formation of the 8th Serbian Strike Brigade of People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia in World War II.

After receiving, on behalf of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, a certificate of appreciation for the Ministry’s contribution to the preservation of tradition and support in the implementation of projects of the Municipality of Trgovište, Martinović had said that taking care of the southern part of the country is one of the tasks of the Government of Serbia, which will do everything in its power to ensure that people from these parts live better and quality lives, as well as to reduce the economic differences, as its duty due to great sacrifices made for freedom.

“The policy pursued by the Government and our President Aleksandar Vučić stresses that all unresolved foreign issues in these areas be resolved through peaceful means and dialogue, without any conflicts. When President Vučić says that we need historical reconciliation with the Albanians, it means that we and they both need peace, that we have no right to repeat the mistakes made in the past, and that it is our duty to cooperate and fight for economic development,” Martinović has emphasized.

As he has stated, the tradition of the 8th Brigade is woven into today’s Serbian Armed Forces, which is a sound pillar and bulwark for all citizens of our country.

“In the 20th century, the Serbian people also brought freedom to other nations, to those who never had it. We should learn from our heroic and tragic history to protect Serbia, because we do not have a spare homeland. We must preserve the peace and never allow anyone to threaten us and our country ever again,” the minister has concluded.
