MARTINOVIĆ DISCUSSED THE POTENTIAL PROJECT COOPERATION WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF JAPAN IN SERBIA

The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has met today with the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Serbia, Katsumata Takahiko, with whom he discussed potential project cooperation and Japan’s donor support to the Ministry, in light of the friendly relations between the two countries.

Martinović has pointed out that MDULS, as one of the basic and urgent needs of Local Self-government Units, had identified the rehabilitation of local road infrastructure and the implementation of other infrastructure projects. He explained that the Ministry aims to, with the support provided by the international partners, assist the underdeveloped municipalities and local self-governments of the third and fourth categories, as well as devastated municipalities, to improve the development of their local environment and the quality of life of its citizens.

At the meeting, it was agreed that, in the coming period, the Ministry and the Embassy of Japan in Serbia shall continue their communication regarding the potential project cooperation.

Referring to the fact that Serbia and Japan have marked 140 years of diplomatic relations last year, Martinović had thanked the Ambassador of Japan for his sincere friendship and continuous support in the form of large investments. The interlocutors have expressed their belief that the two countries shall continue to strengthen their economic cooperation and work on creating even better conditions for the arrival of new Japanese companies in Serbia.
