MARTINOVIĆ FORMALLY OPENED THE GREEN MARKET IN THE PADEJ SETTLEMENT, PREMISES ALSO IMPORTANT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURAL TOURISM IN ČOKA

The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has formally opened a Green Market in the local community of Padej today, for which MDULS provided approximately RSD 40 million, while the implementation of the project was supported by the Municipality of Čoka. On that occasion, Martinović has pointed out that the construction of the market is a multi-purpose project, because, as suggested by the president of the municipality, Stana Đember, there is an idea to hold cultural and artistic events at these premises in the future as well.

Martinović has emphasized that the newly opened market is of great importance for the residents of Čoka, which is intensively engaged in agriculture, but also for the overall development of this local self-government, primarily in respect of cultural tourism. He has pointed out that Čoka is one of the municipalities which, out of its small and unrecognizable cultural and artistic events, has managed to create events which became a brand, such as the “Drummer Festival in Čoka” event, at which notable artists from our music scene perform.

Pointing out that, despite less-than-favourable weather conditions, the works on the implementation of the project were completed on time, the minister added that the market already has a modern look, although there is still work to be done on landscaping which shall contribute to making the premises look even more modern.

He has pointed out that Čoka is another example of a small municipality where the majority of Serbs and Hungarians live and work together, and that they improve this local self-government through their joint efforts and brotherly relations. He has recalled that Čoka has a safe and reliable partner in the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, and expressed his belief that the municipality will continue to have the support of the State for the implementation of the projects which the president of the municipality presented to him during their meeting.
